The Noosa Festival of Surfing
May 10, 2014
Every March, the world’s largest surfing event takes place along the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. The Noosa Festival of Surfing is a true celebration of the sport with about 500 surfers partaking each year in events ranging from amateur and professional longboarding contests to specialty events involving stand-up paddle boards, tandem surfers, finless boards, and even the occasional surfing canine. The festival is currently in its 23rd year and takes place at First Point in Noosa, as the exposed point break and consistent swells at this beach make it the ideal location for the festival.
The Joel Tudor Duct Tape Invitational took place last year as well as part of the festival, drawing some of the best longboarders in the world to Noosa Heads. Our very own Romain Juchereau was there to capture the beauty and grace of these incredible longboarders as they cruised the waves and showcased their abilities against the backdrop of one of Australia’s many beautiful surf breaks.
